Take part in a full day of hands-on hedge-laying while learning all about the skill and why it is done here at Woodlands Farm. The day will cover topics such as preparing the ground, how to use hedge-laying tools, cutting of wooden stakes and the skilled art of ‘pleaching’.


This is a one day course which runs from 8.30am until 4pm.


There are 3 dates you can take part in the course:


  • Saturday 17th January 2026

  • Saturday 21st February 2026

  • Saturday 21st March 2026


Please wear suitable clothing and hard wearing work boots or wellies. Please also bring a packed lunch.


The course is £80 per person.

The Woodlands Farm Trust is running a number of activities during the next half term:


  • Get Wild in the Woods - Wed 18th Feb 10:00 - 15:00

    Come and join us for an adventure in the woods. We shall be building shelters as well as cooking bread and toasting marshmallows over the campfire. This event is suitable for children age 6 and over. £7 per child. All children must be accompanied by an adult. Booking is essential, to book visit: Get Wild in the Woods

    Session between 10am - 12pm and 1pm - 3pm


  • The Woodlands Farm Trust Activity Trail - Thu 19th Feb 10:00 - 14:00

    Come and join us for the launch of our new Farm Activity Trail. Pick up an Activity pack and try the trail around the yard, learn about farming while exploring the farm, can you find everything? Then do a farm craft to take home with you. No need to book just drop in. £5 per child There will also be a pop up café available on this event.


  • Wonderful Wool - Fri 20th Feb 11:00 - 15:00

    Come and find out about the wonderful material that is wool. Meet our sheep and feel their fleece, then find out about how wool is processed as well as trying some wool crafts as well. No need to book just drop in. £5 per child





Come and join us at one of our Winter Home Educated Activity Days. Whether you would like to meet like minded families or try some new activities on the farm these could be the sessions for you. Each month during the winter we will be running a different activity for children and families who are home educated. Each session lasts from 10 until midday. All activities are aimed for children between the ages of 4 and 14 years and an adult must stay to accompany them on the session.


The winter sessions will be taking place on the following dates, activities to be confirmed:


  • Monday 8th December 2025


  • Monday 12th January 2026


  • Monday 2nd February 2026


£7 per child. Please come with appropriate clothing for the weather as we will be mainly outside.


We are unable to offer refunds for any cancellations within one week of the event, cancellations before then may be subject to a cancellation administration charge.
