Are you looking for a rewarding opportunity that brings together hands on livestock management, ecological stewardship‑ and community engagement on one of the UK’s largest working city farms based in London? Are you passionate about farming?
Due to retirement, an opportunity has arisen to lead the day ‑to day‑ farming and conservation work across our 89acre site on Shooters Hill. Woodlands Farm maintains‑ native and rare breed cattle, sheep, pigs, poultry‑ and bees, alongside species rich grassland, extensive hedgerows, ponds and ancient woodland. The farm welcomes thousands of visitors, volunteers and school groups each year and plays a central role in ‑nature friendly‑ farming and public education in London.
Enthusiastic, practical, flexible and highly motivated, you will oversee livestock welfare and husbandry, deliver conservation and land management‑ tasks, work with volunteers, and be involved to support education visits. You will also play a key role in delivering our Countryside Stewardship Higher Tier and Capital agreements, and be involved in an ecological restoration and business plan programmes funded by Levy and the Esmée Fairbairn Foundation.
Working closely with trustees, staff and community groups, you will help maintain a safe, well run‑ farm, strengthen our public profile and contribute to long ‑term strategic planning.
Although the role is full‑time, we recognise the realities of farm life and operate a flexible working approach. Prospective applicants are welcome to discuss their requirements with us.
